Acceptable Identification
Bay Credit Union requires (2) two pieces of identification issued by provincial, territorial, or federal governments to verify an individual’s identity, one of which must include a photograph (photo ID)*. The record must be a photocopy of an original with a reference number, an expiry date and be current. A record will be kept of this information.
The following is a list of identification that will be accepted to open a Bay Credit Union account.
- A Driver’s Licence issued in Canada
- A Canadian Passport
- A Certificate of Canadian Citizenship or a Certification of Naturalization in the form of a paper document or card, but not a commemorative issue
- A Permanent Resident card or Citizenship and Immigration Canada form
- A Birth Certificate issued in Canada
- A Social Insurance Number card issued by the Government of Canada. While this card is not a mandatory piece of identification, the law requires your Social Insurance Number (SIN) when you open an account that earns interest.
- An Old Age Security card issued prior to January 2008 by the Government of Canada that bears the individual’s name and Social Insurance Number.
- A Certificate of Indian Status issued by the Government of Canada
- An Ontario Photo Card issued by the Government of Ontario
- A Canadian Firearms Licence
- Canadian Forces identification card
- NEXUS or CANPASS Air membership card issued by Canada Border Services Agency
- United Kingdom Passport
- United States Passport
- United States Permanent Resident card (Green Card)
- A Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) client card bearing the individual’s photograph and signature
- Provincial hunting or fishing licence (Outdoors Card)
- Certificate of Registration of Birth Abroad
- Certificate of Retention of Canadian Citizenship
- Foreign Passport
- United Kingdom Driver’s Licence
- United States Driver’s Licence
- Canadian Student Card with individual’s photograph
- Veterans Affairs Canada Health Card
* Health Cards can be accepted as an additional THIRD piece of I.D. for photo purposes only- numeric and alpha must be obliterated. Two other pieces ID will still be required.
